The Impact of Lived Experiences on the Acceptability of Digital Health Tools

  • Understand the bigger context of data collection that digital health tools fit into.

  • Identify different risks and acceptability of digital health tools across generations and lived experiences.

  • Make a plan for how to strengthen privacy protections and incorporate community voices into the design and implementation of digital health tools.

Youth Interacting with Chatbots: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly 

  • Continue learning how youth are already using AI chatbots and proactively integrate this knowledge into your teaching, clinical practice, or programming. 

  • Advocate for common sense policies, ethical guidelines, developmentally appropriate designs, transparency, and guardrails and that protect youth from harm regarding AI platforms. 

  • Parents and consumers need to be discussing the ways in which AI bots are being positioned to replace human relationships.  We need to lean into the messiness of actual human relationships. 

Youth Panel: A Discussion around Digital Tools 

  • Make digital tools accessible, as well as putting them in places such as libraries where people can double check the information they're getting.

  • Promote education about digital tools and have conversations with youth about them, both in school and at home

  • Use the Internet as a tool to help youth engage with their communities, such as digital LGBTQ+ spaces.

  • Keep all ages in mind when making digital spaces and providing knowledge.

  • Model digital spaces after fun websites that are youth-friendly and safe (e.g. Club Penguin) to engage them with health and social issues.

  • Make websites for parents and community members to help them have conversations with their families

Unlocking the Secrets of Wellness in Middle Ages with Digital Health Solutions: Theory and Application 

  • Describe key digital health innovations that support wellness in middle-aged populations.

  • Identify barriers and facilitators to implementing digital health solutions in real-world settings.

  • Apply digital health strategies to a simulated case scenario to promote health and wellbeing.

A Broad Overview of Digital Tools Utilized by Older Adults 

  • Recognize that older adults can/do use tech at the same rate as younger generations.  

  • Identify free tech solutions available for older adults and caregivers.  

  • Utilize the variety of tech innovation piloted by NYS that can fill a multitude of service gaps. 

Artificial Intelligence, Mental Health and Aging: New Paradigms in Care 

  • Understand the principles of digital phenotyping.

  • Recognize how AI-based data on behavior can help diagnosis of mental illness.

  • Address age-specific factors that can impact older adults’ ability to use digital tools. 

Scaling Compassion: How AI-Powered Technology is Transforming Aging in Place 

  • Understand the systemic barriers that prevent older adults from accessing timely social and healthcare support. 

  • Learn how AI and multilingual automation are being applied in the field to increase engagement, reduce costs, and improve care equity. 

  • Gain actionable insights from Blooming Health’s deployment across 22 states and 1,000+ community partners to support aging in place at scale. 

The Future of Digital Health: Bridging Generations 

  • Utilize digital navigators to help people walk people through how to use digital tools, especially those both trained in digital tools and health.

  • Recognize and focus on commonalities of all generations.

  • Train staff, not just consumers, on the use of digital tools.

  • Do not make assumptions about the intentions or abilities of people in different generations.

  • Be empathetic and compassionate.
